Requirements and Eligibility
Texas Driving Safety Course eligibility depends on why you are taking the course. If you are using it to dismiss a ticket, follow the instructions from your court carefully.
- Request and receive the court’s permission to take a driving safety course on or before your appearance date, then finish by the deadline the court sets (commonly around 90 days)
- You must hold a valid, non-commercial Texas driver license or permit and enter a plea of guilty or no contest to the citation
- You are generally eligible to dismiss a ticket with a driving safety course once every 12 months
- CDL holders are not eligible to dismiss a ticket with a driving safety course
- Tickets for driving 25 mph or more over the limit, and certain other violations, may not be eligible — confirm with your court before enrolling
