Florida TLSAE Drug and Alcohol Course

Driving Logic’s online Florida TLSAE course is coming soon. TLSAE (Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education), often called the drug and alcohol course, is required for first-time Florida driver license applicants 18 and older.

What Is the Florida TLSAE Course?

TLSAE is a course with at least 4 hours of content, required under Florida Statute 322.095 for first-time license applicants 18 and older. It covers Florida traffic laws and how alcohol and drugs affect driving.

Who Needs TLSAE?

  • Adults 18 and older getting a first Florida driver license
  • Not teens under 18: since August 1, 2025, they take the 6-hour DETS course instead

Driving Logic is a state-approved driver improvement course provider serving Florida drivers. For official requirements, see Florida Statute 322.095 and FLHSMV’s driver education courses page.
