Enrollment is coming soon. Driving Logic, Texas Driver Education Provider C3595, is preparing its online parent-taught driver education course. Please wait until enrollment opens before purchasing.
What must our family do before instruction begins?
Verify that the parent or designated instructor meets current Texas eligibility requirements. Obtain TDLR instructor authorization for this student and receive the PTDE Program Guide before any instruction begins. Driving Logic’s planned course price is $59.95 before any applicable tax or optional extras. TDLR currently charges a separate $20 application fee paid to TDLR; it is not included in Driving Logic’s course price. Read the official instructor requirements and authorization steps.
How old must the student be?
A student may begin parent-taught instruction at age 14. A learner license requires age 15 and all applicable DPS requirements. For a provisional license, a student under 18 must be at least 16 and hold a valid learner license for at least six months, along with completing the other requirements. Enrollment alone does not make a student eligible for a learner license.
Which instruction does Driving Logic provide?
Driving Logic provides the 24-hour online instructional course. The qualifying parent or designated instructor provides 7 hours of driving instruction and 7 hours of in-car observation. The student also completes 30 hours of supervised driving practice, including at least 10 hours at night. Online course completion alone does not complete the parent-taught driving phase.
What sequence and daily limits apply?
Follow the required course sequence, instructor authorization, learner-license restrictions and current daily instruction limits. Do not begin driving instruction before the required learner-license and course milestones. Complete every required instructional hour. Pausing or returning later does not reduce those requirements.
What is required for the learner and final certificates?
The learner and final (driver-license) certificate portions each require their applicable instruction, assessments and completion evidence. The final portion requires the parent or designated instructor’s completed driving-instruction and observation records and signatures. Do not assume that purchasing the online course, completing a student form or completing online hours alone earns both certificate portions. Follow the certificate instructions provided when enrollment opens and current DPS application requirements. We do not promise instant issuance or guarantee a license.
Where do we find the required logs and application instructions?
Read your student-specific TDLR PTDE Program Guide after instructor authorization. Keep the authorization and actual instructional, observation and driving-practice records. The 30-hour practice log is separate from the parent’s 7-hour driving instruction and 7-hour observation. Use Driving Logic’s approved parent lesson materials and certificate instructions when enrollment opens; these public resources do not establish our approved course sequence or examination method.
- Download TDLR’s one-page parent-taught steps (PDF)
- Download the current TDLR 30-hour practice log (PDF) — record actual dates, daytime/nighttime practice and required signatures; at least 10 of the 30 hours must be at night.
- Read current TDLR driving-instruction and daily-limit guidance before planning sessions.
- Review DPS learner-license documents and steps
- Review DPS provisional-license documents and steps
Do not count the same driving session toward separate required hour categories or record hours before they occur. Impact Texas Teen Drivers is a separate, free DPS program; follow current DPS instructions and complete it within 90 days before the skills test. Providing a log does not issue a certificate or satisfy the remaining instruction and DPS requirements.
